Saint Laurent at The Palladium, LA

The 10th February 2016, saw the Parisian Label, Saint Laurent, come all the way to the West Coast of the States for one night only at the Palladium in LA. It was a show outside Men’s Fashion Week and before Paris Fashion Week, cleverly merging both Men’s and Women’s lines together. Showcasing Men’s Fall 16 and Women’s Pre-Fall 2016 – perfect timing for the rest of the women’s fall collection to be unveiled in the next coming weeks. It was a truly star studded event with the likes of Lady Gaga, Lily Collins, Emma Roberts and Zac Efron all in attendance.

But it does make you wonder and worry for the future of Fashion Week, with such shows being placed before the fashion month, like Burberry and Tom Ford have previously done, does it mean that fashion week is slowly declining? Especially as Christopher Bailey of Burberry has announced that the collection will be available to buy straight after the show, it makes you worry will fashion week exist for much longer?

However, Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent did an amazing job in creating the next season of rock and roll grunge mixed with a little bit of glamour. It had a little bit of victorian heritage about it, with the midi skirts, and old style dresses mixed with a bit of a nod to the 70’s with the boots and the crop jackets. Here are some of my favourite looks from the show.

It’s been an exciting start to fashion month and the perfect way to kick New York Fashion Week. What are your thoughts on these changes?
